THE CW11 AND JEEP JOIN WITH OPERATION GRATITUDE TO SALUTE THE TROOPS WITH A MASSIVE LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN
THE EXCITEMENT BEGINS AT SHEA STADIUM ON JULY 15th
July 9, 2007 – New York – The CW11/WPIX, Tribune Broadcasting's New York's CW affiliate and the New York Mets have partnered with Jeep to celebrate Operation Gratitude's shipment of 250,000 care packages to U.S. Service Members deployed in combat.
To celebrate this milestone, CW11, the New York Mets, and Jeep are launching the 2007 Letter Writing Campaign in support of Operation Gratitude's mission to lift morale, put a smile on a Service Member's face and express the appreciation of the American people. One lucky writer's letter will be chosen at random to be included in Operation Gratitude's 250,000th package. The winning letter writer and the U.S. Service member who receives Operation Gratitude's 250,000th package will each drive home in a brand new 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited.
Letters to U.S. Military members deployed overseas can be submitted by visiting CW11.com/Jeep. Each letter written through CW11.com/Jeep will serve as an entry form to the contest. One citizen's letter will be chosen at random to be included in Operation Gratitude's 250,000th package. In addition, that winner, along with the member of the military who receives the 250,000thpackage will each drive home in a brand new 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited from the Tri-State Jeep Dealers Association.
Eric Neilsen President of the New York Dealer Association said, "We are proud and humbled to be able to contribute to a great organization like Operation Gratitude that does so much good in support of our troops. The Jeep was originally developed to serve our military and we are very pleased to be able to continue this tradition in a small way."
The Letter Writing Campaign will kick-off at Shea Stadium on Sunday, July 15, 2007 during Military Appreciation Day, a military themed event to honor all U.S. Service Members. During a pre-game ceremony, a Jeep representative will deliver the symbolic keys to the 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited to Operation Gratitude for inclusion in the 250,000th package.
The New York Mets will host Military Appreciation Day presented by Jeep on Sunday July 15th at Shea Stadium. The first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive a Mets cap, courtesy of Jeep. All fans are encouraged to bring items which will be collected into a large "care package" for Operation Gratitude. Acceptable items for donation are phone cards, DVDs, CDs, Beanie Babies, disposable cameras, batteries of all sizes, baseball caps, and sealed lip balm.
