CW11/WPIX LAUNCHES NEWS IN HD : CW11 MORNING NEWS AND CW11 NEWS AT TEN NOW IN HD
NEW YORK, April 30, 2008- CW11/WPIX, Tribune Broadcasting's New York CW affiliate, has added HD to its local newscasts, with "CW11 News at Ten" and the "CW11 Morning News" now in high-definition, providing viewers with improved sound and the clarity and resolution of 1080i HD.

The "CW11 Morning News" (airing Monday-Friday from 5-9am) and "CW11 News at Ten" (airing daily from 10-11pm) is now produced in HD. CW11's High Definition Studio includes studio cameras, all graphics systems (including Weather and Traffic), a programmable control room monitor wall system, and a state of the art multi-format production switcher. Additional station facility upgrades included a 64 x 64 HD router with supporting distribution and format conversion equipment for legacy sources. HD field report capability will roll out over the next few months.

The addition of "CW11 Morning News" and "CW11 News at Ten" in HD compliments WPIX's existing HD programming: all New York Mets games, "Two and a Half Men," "Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill," "Smallville," "Supernatural," "Reaper" "Everybody Hates Chris" "The Game" and "WWE Smackdown."

"As the demand for HD content has increased among our audience, WPIX has continued to meet these needs. The addition of our HD newscasts is another important step in providing comprehensive high definition opportunities for our viewers" said WPIX Vice President and General Manager Betty Ellen Berlamino.

WPIX's digital signals are available over the air on 11.1 and on WPIX-DT (Cablevision 711, Time Warner Cable 711, RCN 711, Comcast 235 (507 in Dutchess County, NY) and on telco systems (Verizon channel 801, AT&T channel 1011)
