NEW YORK, January 29, 2007 –Tired of getting stuck in traffic? The CW11/WPIX, Tribune Broadcasting's New York CW affiliate will be expanding Commutercast traffic coverage beginning Monday, January 29th with enhanced traffic reports delivered on The CW11 Morning News (5-9am weekdays), via cw11.com, and through detailed email updates to help viewers minimize travel time. The CW11 Morning News will now have double the traffic coverage, with expanded reports every 10 minutes from 5-9 am. CW11 Morning News Traffic Reporters Jill Nicolini and Lisa Mateo will provide accurate and reliable real-time traffic information for the Tri-State area each weekday morning. With Nicolini moving from Air 11 into the studio, and Mateo reporting full-time from Air11, together they will provide comprehensive, point-to-point coverage of the road and rails for the morning commute. In addition, Air11 has been upgraded to a new chopper, which will cover greater distances and fly for a longer duration, bringing viewers expanded air coverage.
Each evening from 4-6 pm, viewers can log onto cw11.com where, via video, reporter Alyssa Coleman delivers updated traffic reports which include problem spots in all five boroughs, as well as Long Island, New Jersey, Westchester, Rockland and Southern Connecticut. In addition to problems on the road, Coleman highlights airport delays, and mass transit problems, including subway and bus service.
In addition, cw11.com will offer a powerful interactive traffic center driven by Traffic.com®. The CW11 Commutercast Traffic Center will feature up-to-the minute reports for all of the major highways and roads in the Tri-State area, and will allow users to customize and save individual travel routes. Viewers can also sign up to receive personalized e-mail and voice alerts with traffic information for routes they custom create. These alerts will also feature Traffic.com's "Jam Factor®" rating that indicates the amount of congestion on specified roads.
