"WB11 MORNING NEWS" HOST SUKANYA KRISHNAN WINS BEST ON-CAMERA
ACHIEVEMENT AND "NY METS BASEBALL ON WPIX" WINS BEST LIVE SPORTS COVERAGE
NEW YORK, March 13, 2006- WB11/WPIX, Tribune Broadcasting's New York CW affiliate, was awarded 12 Emmy Awards, the most awarded to any one station at the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' 49th Annual Award presentation last night in Manhattan.
Nominated for 29 awards, more than any other news organization this year, WB11/WPIX celebrated a total of 12 wins, the largest number awarded to any one station, ahead of News 12 Long Island and WABC-TV who each received 9 awards. Capturing best entertainment, business and political programming, WB11/WPIX also won best coverage of anticipated news story as well as best coverage of a continuing news story. "WB11 Morning News" had host Sukanya Krishnan win best on-camera achievement (News) and David Kalmowitz win best director (News). In addition, "NY Mets Baseball on WPIX" won best live sports coverage.
The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' 49th Annual New York Emmy(r) Awards honor outstanding achievement in the television industry during the eligibility period of September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2005.
