CW11/WPIX PARTNERS WITH NEW YORK METS
TO PRESENT SECOND ANNUAL
WEATHER EDUCATION DAY AT SHEA
ON THURSDAY, MAY 17
May 9, 2007-- New York--The CW11/WPIX, Tribune Broadcasting's New York's CW affiliate will again partner with the New York Mets Baseball Team for the second annual "CW11 Weather Education Day at Shea" a special field trip program and interactive pre-game meteorology lesson for 15,000 students from throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The event, to be held at Shea Stadium on Thursday May 17, 2007 will begin with the students participating in an interactive pre-game meteorology lesson at 11 am, provided by CW11 weather experts Mr. G and Linda Church. At the conclusion of the educational program, students will watch the Mets take on the Chicago Cubs at 1:10 p.m.
"Weather Education Day at Shea" engages students in a curriculum based program to study weather patterns and phenomenon. Students will be selected to go on the field and try their hand at delivering the weather on a "green screen" to emulate a weather telecast. A Mets player will also speak to the students on how the climate changes affect their performance.
WeatherBugŪ, a CW11/WPIX partner and a leading provider of live, local weather information, will also award a free WeatherBug Tracking Station to a local school to be announced by Mr. G at the event. In addition, the WeatherBug Storm Tracker vehicle will be present for students to interact with at the event.
Mr. Met and the Mets Pepsi Party Patrol will also be on hand to entertain the students.
Linda Church will also be delivering the forecast for "CW11 Morning News" from Shea Stadium beginning at 5 am and Mr. G will be throwing out the first pitch of the game.
