Legendary photojournalist, Bob Adelman, will be at Westwood Gallery tonight to kick off his "Mine Eyes Have Seen" exhibit. The exhibit features iconic images from the Civil Rights movement, including the famous photo of Dr. King giving his "I Have a Dream" speech. Cake Man Raven's Secret Recipe!: Tuesday,11/27/07
Cake Man Raven shares his highly coveted RED VELVET CAKE recipe with Truly Julie. For the cake batter, vigorously mix:
1 cup of softened unsalted butter
1 cup of Shortening
2 cups of Buttermilk
4 whole eggs
2 teaspoons of Vinegar
2 teaspoons of Vanilla Extract
2 oz of red food coloring
Once the batter has a smooth consistency. Add in the pre-sifted dry mix, which consists of:
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon of Salt
2 cups of Flour
1.5 cups of Granulated Sugar
1 table spoon of Cocoa Powder
Again, mix to smooth consistency. Pour batter into 3 9-inch pans and bake for up to 25 minutes at 325 degrees. Once done, let it sit for at least an hour. For the Icing, mix:
1 pound butter
1 pound crème cheese
2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 pound of Confection Sugar
Whip until fluffy and smooth. Stack the three tiers of cake, icing in between each layer. Ice the sides as well as the top, and decorate as you like! For a smoother finish, only use the third top portion of your icing spatula. To BUY a cake, go to: www.cakemanraven.com

Truly Julie joined Henry Wanyoike, the world's fastest blind marathoner, and his running mate, Joseph Kibunja for a warm up run before they take on the ING New York City Marathon this Sunday. The two have teamed up with Standard Chartered Bank and the organization Seeing is Believing to help raise eye operation funds for 10 million people by the year 2010. Henry and Joseph, both natives of Kenya, won 2 gold medals at the 2004 Olympics and their record breaking marathon time is just 2 hours and 33 minutes!
