Luis Castillo: Bridging The Gap

February 21, 2008

Port St. Lucie, Florida — Without a doubt, Johan Santana was Omar Minaya's big off-season splash. The Former Twins ace hopes to help the Mets rebound from last season's very disappointing finish.

Last season in Minnesota, Santana was 15-13 with a 3.33 ERA, a sub-par season by his standards. He's hoping a change a scenery will help him regain his old form. Helping him adjust to his new team, Mets second baseman Luis Castillo.

Castillo, acquired by the Mets on July 30th last year, was Santana's teammate in Minnesota. CW11's Chris Jacobs caught up with Castillo:

What do you think of Perez's struggles?

Are you worried about Oliver Perez yet?
I've always been worried about him.

I'm confident he'll turn it around soon.
He can still be a 15-game winner.
